When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. We don't quietly change facts.

How we correct
- A factual error (a wrong name, number, date or claim) is corrected in the article, and a note says what was wrong and when it was fixed. The article is flagged "Corrected" under its byline, and the correction is listed below.
- A small slip that doesn't change the meaning, such as a typo or a broken link, is fixed without a note.
- An update, where the story has moved on, is marked "Updated" with the time; it isn't a correction.
- A serious error that undermines an article may lead us to take it down. Its address then says it was removed after a review.
Tell us about a mistake
Use Report on the article (under the byline and at its end), or write to [email protected]. An editor reads every report, usually within a day, and replies if you leave an email address.
